Our Daily Bread

oil on birch panel 5 x 12 sold
This was planned a long time ago.
Another painter friend remarked about how it is good practice
to paint bread as it is similar to painting human skin tones. It is.
Bread is beautiful and the nooks and crannies present a fun challenge.
The first time I painted bread was back in '85; my neighbor Jim
loved to feed us his homemade raisin loaf.
It was so lovley I painted it in pastels. This reminds me of him.
A great friend who is no longer with us.
