Take Me Home? Art For Sheltered Animals

oil 5"x 5" on linen mounted on matboard $150.00

This is Rina. Rina is a Blue Tick Water hound. She lives at the local Humane Society in Richmond, VA.

She is possibly the most dainty, quiet, elegant dog I have seen in a long time. It really was hard just to photograph her and then walk out the door.

Painting her was a delight and so free. I like the little square format so much but I am eager to see if I can get the same effect in say a 12 x 12 or even a 36 x 36.

I paint these with one small bright brush only, wiping it down between colors, letting color mix in a bit at the edge, sometimes dragging leftover color into the larger areas.

I made this with a donation in mind. This is part of a wonderful idea of bloggers Sheila Tajima and Carrie Jacobsen,
called the Art for Sheltered Animals project. All the artist has to do is make an image and donate it to the local shelter for them to use any way they like to raise funds for the shelter. Remarkable, huh? yup, these two gals are!
