Upcoming Plein Air Workshop October 23 2010

After recovering from a brief illness and this hot summer, painting almost exclusively, still life, in my studio for an upcoming show, my husband and I took to the highway to see friends and the grandchildren out west.
I am spending this month in Colorado and New Mexico painting outside in preparation for  the Paint Out workshop in North Carolina with my friend Charles Philip Brooks and another outstanding artist Adam Miller. This is one of my small Colorado paintings that will be used for the postcard promotion. If any of you would like to join us, see the press release below.
I would love to see you!

Join Adam Miller, Cathyann Burgess and Imperial Centre Painter-in-Residence, Charles Philip Brooks October 23rd and 24th for two days of plein-air painting. This very special event will bring outdoor painters from across the state to Rocky Mount, North Carolina to paint the autumn scenery. Guest artists Adam Miller (Brooklyn, NY) and Cathyann Burgess (Richmond, VA) are two of the finest realist painters in the Southeast.

Outdoor painters of all skill levels are welcomed to Rocky Mount to create works in the open air. Students will enjoy outings with Charles Philip Brooks, Adam Miller, Cathyann Burgess - studying light, color, form, and atmosphere directly from nature. Sessions will be from 10:00am to 6:00pm each day and is at a cost of $130 for city residents and $160 for non city residents. Each day will include time indoors as well as outdoors with each artist.

Lead Instructor of the Imperial Centre Painting Studio, Charles Philip Books is an experienced and enthusiastic teacher. His teaching studio, in cooperation with the Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences, offers a two year atelier-style program in traditional painting, with a special emphasis on plein-air painting. The teaching studio is unique in the Southeast, due to the inclusion of American Tonalist techniques in the curriculum.
