Through the Rift by Virginia Fine Artist Cathyann Burgess

Through the Rift©2011C.L.Burgess 8x6 oil on linen panel $175

There is a very narrow passage of water on the St. Lawrence River that separates two of the Thousand Islands, Wellesley in the United States and Hill Island in Canada. As you pass through it very slowly, the water gets shallow and rocky, and there is such a quiet loveliness before it empties into the Lake of the Isles. It felt to me like entering a cathedral, with the trees rising up like spires on either side of our boat.
